The smell of baking bread is one of the very best kitchen aromas! This 1.5 hr class is a great introduction to the art of creating your own, healthy Artisan Sourdough bread. Sourdough is the oldest form of leavened bread, and making bread the traditional Sourdough way invites a collection of wild yeasts and natural bacteria to leaven and flavour your bread.
There's a plethora of information about making Sourdough but, when your eyes stop rolling in your head and all is said and read, the best way to learn how it's done is to come to this Cleanskin class! You will learn how to generate a successful starter, how to make the 'sponge', the dough, form the bread and bake the bread. We will show you the different stages of the Sourdough so that you know what to look for and how it should feel. Making Sourdough is a 24 hour process, condensed into this excellent 1.5 hr Cleanskin class that gives you a clear overview of what to do!
There will, of course, be tastings and there are comprehensive class notes included for you to take home. The ingredients you need to create Sourdough at home are available instore, including special Bannetons (proofing baskets).
